Few are sure how the pack began... our origins are shrouded in mystery and ledgend. We know that it was soon after the arrival of the whites to our lands... the pack was formed specifically to protect the wisdom of the people from the desperate assimilation of the Europeans. Tales tell of a young angulkuk who, with the help of a cedar tree spirit, a stream spirit and a crow spirit, disguised herself as a man and went among the tribes for training as a shaman. This young shaman had a vision that predicted the destruction of a strong, natural wolf pack by a new pack of wolves... white of fur, and strange of form. These Not-Quite-Right wolves killed off the original pack with sheer numbers, and the shaman knew that this must not come to pass.
She recieved help from a Yapahe named Hunting-Cat, a peace maker named Old-Grey-Sea, and a story teller named Crawling-Wolf. They went on a quest beneath the sea, seeking suport from the spirits, and was found by their pack totem, Orca. They battled Orca, the Killer Whale, until their strength gave out, and the mighty spirit was impressed by their bravery and skill. "Let my strength be yours," she said, "for your goal is a worthy one. You, my children, will survive the disaster that is to come."
After that, they were a pack. They picked up a ragabash later, simply because it seemed proper. During the course of history, the ranks of the Klukwalle have swelled from their original four to groups of thirty or more, and it was necesary to maintain order at these times, so authority was divided into five offices, determined by auspice. The head of each auspice was expected to recruit and teach new members of that auspice, and some had additional duties as well.
Though the Klukwalle's main purpose is to protect the people and their songs, the pack was involved in other activities. Battling the Wyrm wherever needed, and even holding raids on nearby white settlements. Such settlers remembered these attacks, but through the magic of the delerium, the crinos garou were remembered as Makah indians wearing their ceremonial Wolf-head masks.
After the sacrifice of the Wendigo, the pack was reduced to two members... Sarah Redbird, a shaman, and Strength-of-Wolves, a warrior. Strength-of-Wolves was old, and chose his successor... a young Siberahk named Wakinyan. When his training was complete, Wakinyan gave his teacher an honorable death.
Now it is before the new members of the Klukwalle to rebuild the pack to it's former glory, and not to loose sight of their purpose.
